Sara Drive Structure Fire
At 11:54:48 hours, June 22, the Pinole Fire Department, Contra Costa County Fire District, Rodeo-Hercules Fire District, and El Cerrito Fire Department responded to a reported Residential Structure Fire at 1829 Sarah Dr. in Pinole. Engine 69 arrived at scene and found the attached garage of a one story home heavily involved in fire that was threatening a residential elderly care home next door. The lone occupant of the involved structure was able to evacuate prior to our arrival. There were no injuries to Pinole residents or our personnel. Our firefighters were able to confine the fire to the involved garage saving the living space of the home and protecting house next door. A total of 18 firefighters manning five engine companies, one truck company, and two Battalion Chiefs responded to this incident. Battalion 7 companies were assisted by Pinole PD who initiated the evacuation of the residential care home and provided traffic control. The cause of the fire appeared to be accidental. The residents of the home will be staying with relatives. Station coverage was provided to open Battalion 7 stations by the Contra Costa County Fire District (Martinez) and the Moraga-Orinda Fire District.

Incident Information:
At 01:09:01 hours this morning the Rodeo Hercules-Fire District, Pinole Fire Department, Contra Costa County Fire District, Crockett-Carquinez Fire District, and El Cerrito Fire Department responded to a reported Residential Structure Fire with Rescue at 475 Falcon Wy., Hercules. Quint 76 arrived at scene and reported heavy smoke showing from a single story residential with reports of victims trapped. Quint 76 passed command and made immediate entry for fire attack and search. Quint 76 quickly located and removed the victim with the assistance of Engine 75. Firefighter/Paramedics from the City of Pinole Fire Department provided immediate advanced life support medical care to the critically injured victim. The victim was flown to the Santa Clara Valley Burn Center by air ambulance. The fire was confined to the involved areas of the home. Additional interior and exterior searches were completed in response to scene reports of a possible second victim, no victim(s) were located. Animal control responded to the scene for one live house cat and three cats that perished in the home. A total of 20 firefighters manning four engine companies, two truck companies, and two Battalion Chiefs responded to this incident. Contra Costa Fire’s on-call fire investigator responded to this incident. Fire cause and origin are under investigation. Station coverage was provided to open Battalion 7 stations by the Contra Costa County Fire District (Martinez), Moraga-Orinda Fire District, and the Crockett-Carquinez Fire District.
