At 11:54:48 hours, June 22, the Pinole Fire Department, Contra Costa County Fire District, Rodeo-Hercules Fire District, and El Cerrito Fire Department responded to a reported Residential Structure Fire at 1829 Sarah Dr. in Pinole. Engine 69 arrived at scene and found the attached garage of a one story home heavily involved in fire that was threatening a residential elderly care home next door. The lone occupant of the involved structure was able to evacuate prior to our arrival. There were no injuries to Pinole residents or our personnel. Our firefighters were able to confine the fire to the involved garage saving the living space of the home and protecting house next door. A total of 18 firefighters manning five engine companies, one truck company, and two Battalion Chiefs responded to this incident. Battalion 7 companies were assisted by Pinole PD who initiated the evacuation of the residential care home and provided traffic control. The cause of the fire appeared to be accidental. The residents of the home will be staying with relatives. Station coverage was provided to open Battalion 7 stations by the Contra Costa County Fire District (Martinez) and the Moraga-Orinda Fire District.
