GENERAL STORY: All Concerned-
At 9:50 p.m., Battalion 7 fire agencies were dispatched to a vegetation fire on Faria Hill in Pinole. Units arrived to find a working fire at the base of the hill spreading toward surrounding homes. Although wind was not a factor, the extreme slope involved required considerable manpower and a 2nd alarm was called to bring additional resources.
Crews ascended the hill with progressive hose lines and encircled the fire in approximately an hour while other units stood by at the homes atop the hill. A hand crew from Marin county as well as a Cal Fire hand crew (inmates) cut a permanent line around the perimeter to insure permanent containment. The location of the fire is in a “mutual threat zone” which enables Cal Fire to automatically respond state resources to protect State Responsibility Area to the east.
