The Fire District is pleased to announce that the Rodeo Municipal Advisory Council awarded the Rodeo Hercules Fire Protection District a$5,000 grant through the Rdeo Good Neighbor Agreement Fund.   The grant monies will be used to purchase smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to provide to residents of the community who otherwise may not be able to afford one.    The California Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention Act of 2010 is law requiring carbon Monoxide detectors to be installed in every dwelling unit intended for human occupancy.   This law went into effect on July 1, 2011.   Carbon monoxide detectors should be centrally located outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedroom and at least 6 inches from all exterior walls and at least 3 feet from supply or return vents.  If a CO device is combined with a smoke detector, it must emit an alarm or voice warning in a manner that clearly differentiates between a carbon monoxide alarm warning and a smoke detector warning.   Please contact the District’s office at 510-799-4561 if you are interested in receiving a free smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector.
