TYPE OF INCIDENT: 2 Alarm Commercial Structure Fire

LOCATION: 380 Joan Vista Street

RESPONSE: 8 Engines, 2 Trucks, 1 Squad, 1 Breathing Support, 4 Battalion Chiefs

ASSISTING AGENCIES: Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, Richmond Fire Department, Pinole Fire Department, Rodeo-Hercules Fire District, El Cerrito Fire Department, American Medical Response West, Contra Costa County Sheriff, American Red Cross.

 

TOTAL FIRE PERSONNEL AT SCENE: 43

 

INFORMATION:

 

Control Time: 05:18

 

Cause: Stove Fire

 

GENERAL STORY: All Concerned-

 

At 03:31 Contra Costa County Fire Dispatch received a call of an apartment on fire located at 380 Joan Vista Street in in unincorporated El Sobrante.  When Fire Crews arrived on scene they found a single unit of a 6 unit Condominium complex well involved with fire that was threatening to spread to the adjacent structures.  Crews confirmed that the Female occupant and her two children ages 7 and 7 months were out of the unit of origin and all adjoining units were evacuated.  Crews worked aggressively and quickly and successfully kept the fire to the unit of origin and from spreading to adjacent units and nearby buildings.  AMR personnel assessed the homes Female occupant who had suffered smoke inhalation; she was treated at the scene but was not transported. Adjacent homes were threatened, but not damaged by the fire.  Extensive overhaul was needed in the fire area due to the intensity of the fire.   American Red Cross provided shelter for the displaced resident. No firefighters suffered any injuries.  Eight Engine Companies, Two Truck Company, One Breathing Support, One Squad and Six Command Vehicles responded staffed by 37 Firefighters and 6 Battalion Chiefs.
