Reserve Program

The District offers a Reserve Firefighter Program.  Reserve Firefighters are required to attend two hour weekly drills each Tuesday evening and to participate in 12 hours per month of ride-a-long training.  Training is provided in several aspects of firefighting and emergency medicine as well as participation in regional training opportunities such as the Annual Camp Parks Wildland Training and Bayo Vista Training Burn.   Reserve Firefighters are encouraged to participate in local training opportunities such as “Every 15 Minutes”  sponsored by the Hercules High School and the Hercules City Wide Disaster Drill.   Participation in civic opportunities are encouraged such as the District’s Annual Open House,  the Hercules Cultural Fair and the District’s Community Emergency Response Program.   Reserves are trained in emergency medicine, ladders, ropes, ventilation, auto extrication and hose evolutions.    Applications will be accepted  at District Headquarters.  Testing includes a written exam, physical agility test, an oral panel interview and Chief’s interview.   The District is not hiring at this time –  applicants will be informed of future test dates when scheduled.   Reserve Firefighters receive minimum wage.
